Job Posting and Application Submission

– Job Posting Urban Systems publishes a detailed job description on its career site and other job boards, outlining the opportunity, responsibilities, qualifications, and how to apply.

Application Submission – Candidates submit their applications, including a resume and, in some cases, a cover letter or portfolio, through our career portal.

Application Screening

Initial Screening – You put a lot of time into your resume, so our recruitment team will review all applications to identify candidates whose qualifications and experience are the best match for the opportunity– no AI screening here.

Candidate Shortlisting – Shortlisted candidates are identified for an interview with the team, based on a combination of their skills, experience, and potential cultural fit.

Interview Process

Preliminary Interviews – Shortlisted candidates undergo one or more interviews, typically done by video with the hiring team.

Assessment Exercise (if applicable) – Depending on the opportunity, candidates may be required to complete exercises to evaluate their skills relevant to the opportunity.

Final Interviews – Candidates who move forward will participate in final interviews. These may involve more detailed discussions with project leaders, team members, or future peers and often focus on more in-depth questions about the candidate’s experience and match for the opportunity .These are typically in-person, and sometimes include a meet-and-greet with a broader team.

Reference Checks

Conducting Reference Checks – The hiring lead contacts the candidate’s provided references to gather insights into their previous work performance, reliability, and work ethic.

Job Offer and Acceptance

 Job OfferA job offer is extended to the selected candidate, detailing the role, salary, benefits, and start date. This may be preceded by a verbal offer, followed by a formal written offer.

Offer Acceptance – The candidate accepts the offer, and a start date is agreed upon. There may be a negotiation phase regarding salary, benefits, or start date before acceptance.

Onboarding

Pre-Onboarding – Prior to the start date, the candidate may receive materials to review, forms to complete, and information about their first day.

Onboarding Process – The candidate begins with an onboarding experience designed to integrate them into the company, familiarize them with best practices, the team, and projects.

Follow-Up and Coaching

Initial Coaching Sessions – After the candidate has started, initial meetings are scheduled to provide additional clarity, address any questions, and ensure a smooth transition into their new role.
